An Aadhaar card is a government identity proof which contains your biometric data and demographic information. It is a very important proof for every individual in the country and is issued by the Government of India. However, there could be a situation where you might need an Aadhaar card photo change, and there are two ways of doing it. You can do it by updating information through the Self-service Update Portal, or you can visit the enrolment centre near you. If you want to know how to change the photo in Aadhaar card, you can do so offline. There is no provision to change the photo in your Aadhaar card online.

How to Change/Update Photo in Aadhaar Card  

To update the photo on your Aadhaar card, you simply need to visit the nearest Aadhaar enrolment centre. Follow the steps mentioned below to update the photo.

  1. Visit an Aadhaar enrolment centre.
  2. Download the enrolment form from the official UIDAI website.
  3. Carefully fill up the form.
  4. Now submit the form to the executive and provide your biometric details.
  5. The executive present at the centre will take your photograph.
  6. You will be required to provide the biometrics to approve your details.
  7. Pay Rs 25 + GST to get your details updated.
  8. You will now receive an acknowledgement slip which carries your URN.
  9. You can use the URN to check your update status.

Process to Download the Updated Aadhaar Card

  1. Once your request to change photo in Aadhar is processed, you can  download the updated Aadhaar card online.
  2. You have to visit the UIDAI Portal to download the updated Aadhaar card
  3. You can choose to download a normal Aadhaar card or masked Aadhaar card
  4. You will also have to refresh your Aadhaar details in the mAadhaar app after update
  5. Aadhaar data has to be updated in the DigiLocker app as well

Important Points Related to Aadhaar Card Update

  1. No document is required for changing photo in Aadhaar card
  2. You do not have to submit a photograph as the executive clicks the photograph on the spot using the webcam.
  3. It may take up to 90 days to get the details updated in Aadhaar
  4. You can check the Aadhaar update status online using the URN provided in the he Acknowledgement Slip
  5. There is no online process to change photo in Aadhar card through the Self Service Update Portal (SSUP).

Download the Aadhaar data update correction from the official website of UIDAI.

Now fill in all the required details.

Write an application to the regional office requesting them to make the change in your current Aadhaar photo. Send the application on the address mentioned below:

To successfully update your Aadhaar card, you will have to attach an attested copy of your new photo and a copy of the Aadhaar card with the application and the form.
