The JEE Main exam is a national level examination, which will be organized to provide admissions in undergraduate engineering and architecture courses provided by NITs, IIITs and IITs.  The exam will be conducted for B.E/B.Tech, B.Arch & B. JEE MAIN 2020 Exam Pattern, Syllabus:
 JEE Main 2020 comprises of 2 papers; Paper 1 for engineering aspirants and Paper 2 for students seeking admissions in architecture and planning courses. According to the JEE Main 2020 exam pattern, Paper 1 will comprise of multiple choice questions and numerical questions whereas Paper 2 is now separate for B.Arch and B.Plan aspirants. JEE main exam pattern for B.Arch will comprise of objective questions for both Maths and Aptitude, numerical questions for Maths and questions for the drawing section. As per the JEE Main exam pattern 2020 for B.Plan, questions will be asked from Maths and aptitude and there will be an extra section on Planning with multiple choice questions on the same. Paper 1 of JEE Main exam will have 3 subjects – Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Each section will be given equal weightage with 20 MCQs and 5 numerical questions and total marks for JEE Main 2020 Paper 1 will be 300. JEE Main (B.E/ B.Tech) Exam Pattern:

  1. Exam Mode: The examination will be held through online CBT mode.
  2. Subjects: JEE Main will contain questions from Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics subjects.
  3. Type of Questions: Objective type -Multiple Choice questions will be asked.
  4. Number of Questions: 25 questions will be there in each PCM section. 20 questions will be of multiple choice type & 5 questions answers to be filled as numerical value. Total questions will be 75 in the paper.
  5. Exam Duration: The exam duration will be 3 hours. 4 hours for candidates having 40% disability.
  6. Question Paper Medium: The question paper medium is in English & Hindi for all centre cities. For centre cities in Gujarat, Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu, candidates can opt Gujarati as language. Students have to make option of language medium at the time of application process. No changes can be done later.
  7. Marking Scheme: Each correct question will carry 4 marks.
  8. Negative Marking: 1 mark will be deducted for each incorrect response. There will be no negative marking for numerical value answer type of questions.

JEE Main B.Arch Exam Pattern:

  1. Exam Mode: The mode of exam for B.Arch is online only. The drawing test of Paper 2 will be conducted through offline mode on a sheet of A4 size.
  2. Subjects: The JEE Main will comprises of three parts which are mathematics, aptitude test and drawing test.
  3. Type of Questions: Objective type -Multiple Choice questions will be asked for Part-I and Part-II.
  4. Number of Questions: 25 questions will be there in mathematics section; 50 questions in Aptitude test; 2 questions in drawing test. In mathematics, 20 questions will be of multiple choice type & 5 questions answers to be filled as numerical value. There will be total of 75 questions in the paper.
  5. Exam Duration: The duration of the exam will be 3 hours. 4 hours for candidates having 40% disability.
  6. Question Paper Medium: Question paper medium is English and Hindi. Students filling the exam centres in Gujarat, Daman & Diu and Dadra and Nagar Havel cities have the option to opt the question paper in English, Hindi and Gujarati medium.
  7. Marking System: Each question will carry 4 marks for the correct response.
  8. Negative Marking: For each incorrect response, 1 mark will be deducted from the total score. There will be no negative marking for numerical value answer type of questions.

JEE Main Paper (B.Planning) Exam Pattern:

  1. Courses: The paper of B.Plan of JEE Main 2020 will be conducted for admission to undergraduate planning courses.
  2. Exam Mode: The mode of exam of the paper is CBT mode only.
  3. Subjects: The Paper comprises of three parts – Mathematics, Aptitude test and planning based objective type MCQs.
  4. Type of Questions: Multiple Choice questions will be asked in the paper.
  5. Number of Questions: 25 questions will be there in mathematics section; 50 questions in Aptitude test; 25 questions in planning based objective questions. In mathematics, 20 questions will be of multiple choice type & 5 questions answers to be filled as numerical value. There will be total of 100 questions in the paper.
  6. Exam Duration: The duration of the exam will be 3 hours. 4 hours for candidates having 40% disability.
  7. Question Paper Medium: Question paper medium is English and Hindi. Students filling the exam centres in Gujarat, Daman & Diu and Dadra and Nagar Havel cities have the option to opt the question paper in English, Hindi and Gujarati medium.
